Construction Preparation Phase
Pipe and Fitting Inspection: Verify that the connector body is free of cracks and deformation, the matching rubber sealing ring shows no signs of aging or damage, and the specifications are fully compatible.
Work Area Preparation: Clear hard objects from the installation area; lay and compact a 10 cm thick bedding layer of medium-to-coarse sand; ensure proper drainage at the trench bottom to prevent the work surface from becoming waterlogged.
Marking and Pre-treatment: Mark the insertion depth on the outer surface of the spigot (insert end); bevel the spigot end to 15°, ensuring the remaining wall thickness at the bevel is at least 50% of the original pipe wall thickness.
Core Socket-and-Spigot Connection Steps
Cleaning and Lubrication: Thoroughly wipe away oil and impurities from the inner wall of the socket and the outer wall of the spigot; evenly apply neutral soapy water or a specialized lubricant to the rubber ring and spigot surface (the use of corrosive oils, such as engine oil, is strictly prohibited).
Rubber Ring Installation:Fit the rubber sealing ring flatly into the socket groove, ensuring it is not twisted or flipped and is correctly positioned.
Coaxial Insertion:Align the central axes of the socket and spigot; for small diameters (≤DN200), manual pushing is sufficient, whereas large diameters require the use of a cable puller or chain hoist to pull slowly and synchronously until the spigot reaches the pre-marked depth line.
Joint Verification: Check that the rubber ring has not been squeezed out and the joint is not misaligned; confirm that an expansion gap of approximately 10 mm remains between the spigot end face and the bottom of the socket.
