Water resumption times for different scenarios
Standard live-line repair (under pressure): No water shutdown is required during installation; flow is maintained throughout the process, and the system remains operational once the bolts are tightened and the seal is verified.
Repair requiring valve closure: After installation, a 5–10 minute seal integrity check is performed; once it is confirmed that there is no dripping or leakage at the joint, the valve is opened immediately to restore flow-no additional waiting time is needed.
Large-diameter, high-pressure pipelines: Following installation, pressure can be gradually increased for testing; once stability and the absence of leaks are confirmed, full service resumes-the waiting period typically does not exceed 15 minutes.
Essential checks before restoring water flow
Verify that all bolts have been tightened evenly in a diagonal pattern and that the gap between the flanges is uniform on both sides.
Ensure the rubber gasket fits snugly against the outer wall of the pipe, with no misalignment or deformation due to pinching.
Observe the installation for 3–5 minutes after restoring flow to ensure there is no leakage around the clamp joint and that the seal meets performance standards.
