Short-term shutdown with pressure reduction: In cases of severe pipe damage or excessive leakage, the upstream valve must be closed briefly to reduce pressure. The water outage typically lasts 10–30 minutes; once the clamp is tightened and sealed, the valve can be reopened immediately to restore supply.
Comparison with traditional methods:Traditional repair methods-such as pipe replacement or recaulking joints-usually require a water outage of over 4 hours. Emergency repairs using repair clamps can reduce this downtime by at least 4 hours.
Key factors affecting the duration of the water outage
Pipe diameter:For small-to-medium diameter pipes (DN50–DN300), repair clamp installation requires minimal workspace and involves simple procedures, keeping the outage under 30 minutes. For large-diameter pipes (above DN600), only a brief pressure-reduction shutdown is required, keeping the total outage time under one hour.
Site conditions: If the pipe surface is cleaned beforehand and the correct size clamp is ready, rapid emergency repair with virtually zero downtime is possible. If temporary excavation or treatment of extensive corrosion is required, the outage duration may be slightly longer, yet it remains far shorter than with traditional repair methods.
