Comparison of cost-performance ratios across mainstream materials

UPVC (Unplasticized Polyvinyl Chloride): Unit prices are as low as approximately 4.20 RMB. It supports long-term operating temperatures of -10°C to 70°C and a nominal pressure rating of PN10. It offers excellent acid and alkali resistance. In standard applications without extreme heat or highly corrosive environments, both procurement and installation costs are far lower than those of other materials, making it the most cost-effective choice for general use.


PE (Polyethylene): The unit price for standard equal-diameter elbow fittings is around 8.91 RMB. It features good toughness and high impact resistance, with low-temperature performance superior to UPVC, making it suitable for outdoor cold-water supply applications. However, its overall cost is higher than UPVC, resulting in a slightly lower cost-performance ratio.


Galvanized/Carbon Steel: Basic sleeve fittings are priced as low as 2 RMB. While they offer high pressure-bearing capacity, their corrosion resistance is poor; they are suitable only for connecting standard steel pipes in non-corrosive environments. They are prone to rusting over time, making their lifecycle cost-performance ratio inferior to UPVC.


304 Stainless Steel: Standard basic models range from 1 to 5.50 RMB, while specialized high-pressure versions can reach 51 RMB. It offers excellent strength and corrosion resistance but comes with higher procurement costs. It is best suited for applications requiring hygiene, high pressure, or specific corrosion resistance, and does not offer a cost-performance advantage in general-purpose scenarios.


High-end Engineering Plastics (CPVC/PPH/PVDF, etc.): Unit prices are far higher than UPVC. These materials offer superior temperature and strong-corrosion resistance, making them suitable only for specialized conditions such as hot water transport or handling highly corrosive chemicals. Using them in standard applications results in performance overkill and a very low cost-performance ratio.
